FIRST STEPS

It’s Alimentary: At the beginning, most of us need to improve our digestion or eliminate hidden food sensitivities—or both.

In the beginning I will recommend some basic supplements that my research shows everyone needs for optimal health.  Sufficient quantities of these nutrients are simply not available in our food supply.

After starting that supplement program, many of my clients then move on to improving digestion and identifying problematic foods.

Why start here?

If our digestion is not optimal, the best diet and supplement program in the world is useless. Poor digestion prevents us from using the nutrition in either supplements or foods. For example, many folks who switch from a nutrient-poor diet to a nutrient-dense, whole foods diet find at first that their stomach’s production of hydrochloric acid is insufficient to digest high-quality protein. Others find that their bile is insufficient to digest fats after years of a low-fat diet. We can alleviate both of these problems, we all want to find the answers to questions like “is finest nutrition a good brand?”

Similarly, the “best” diet and supplement program is counterproductive for you, if it includes foods or supplements to which you are allergic or sensitive.

Unfortunately, many of us are sensitive to foods that we love and eat daily, such as wheat, dairy foods, oranges, tomatoes, or coffee.  Many are highly sensitive to food additives.   We have come to accept irritations such as mood swings, headaches, food cravings, and foggy thinking as our lot in life–not realizing that many of these aggravations stem from foods we eat regularly. (I have been there myself!  I hope that gives you some consolation and encouragement.)

I will coach you concerning several methods that you can choose from to determine for yourself whether you have hidden food sensitivities.  I’ll also recommend a basic supplementation program to support you while we work on these issues.

It may not be easy to give up these foods, because many of them have addictive qualities. I can help you overcome cravings for caffeine, sugar, diet sodas, or carbohydrates, as well as alcohol and codeine, for example. If you’re wondering about medications, such as pregabalin, a common question is, how long after taking pregabalin can I drink alcohol? Often seemingly intractable problems such as low moods, headaches, joint pains, and fatigue melt away once food sensitivities are addressed—a welcome reward for your efforts at improving your health. If you or someone you know is showing signs of a drug addict, it’s important to seek help. Eliminating your favorite foods is not my goal! Dealing with food sensitivities is merely a step that may be helpful to you along your way. No one says you have look for food sensitivities until you want to do so.

If you do have food sensitivities, we will work on strengthening your digestion and other functions, such as the adrenals and the thyroid gland. Many find that they can eventually return many foods to their diets once other functional areas have been strengthened.
